I know many of you are awaiting some variety when it comes to iPad 2 cases. I know I am. At the moment, there are only a handful of cases available for purchase right now for the iPad 2 and so far, none of them are quite as popular yet as Apple’s own Smart Cover. The problem with the Smart Cover for me is that sure, it protects the front of your device, but it offers no protection for the rear. This is one of the factors that has kept me from purchasing a Smart Cover.
Case-mate is one of those companies I’ve been keeping my eye on for new iPad 2 case releases. This week, they have released their first real case for it, the Barely There case. The Barely There series of cases are one of Case-mate’s most popular cases thanks in part to their slim profile while still offering a good amount of protection. The iPad 2 version of this case is no different. The case is very slim and covers the back side of the iPad 2. If you take a look at the profile, it is very thin and doesn’t take away from the design of the iPad 2. The Barely There case also offers easy access to all ports and and buttons. For those who like to keep their device protection to a minimum, the Barely There case in conjunction with a good screen protector could offer a good balance of protection and good looks.
Offering a layer of protection and polish, the Barely There case reveals more of your iPad. Colorful shades add a modern look, without the bulk. Made from specially engineered materials, including a hard-to-break plastic shell, the form fitting case slims in all the right places.
- Extremely slim profile showcases more of your iPad 2
- Form fit feature covers back and corners
- Impact resistant, flexible plastic shell
- Access to all ports and functions
It is available in 2 colors, black and pink and can be purchased now for $34.99 on their website here. Â It looks like however the pink color is temporarily out of stock, but the black one is good to go. Hopefully they’ll offer more colors in the future.
On a side note, it doesn’t look like the case is compatible with the Apple Smart Cover, so it won’t be something you can use in conjunction with the Smart Cover.
