Today is a good day for T-Mobile and T-Mobile users. With the release of “in store” HTC G1s. So I took the time to head to a T-mobile store on 45th and Lexington in Manhattan, NY and a nice worker there let me play with a G1 and was very helpful with a run down of the device (I must say I was very impressed by her, big shout out, she is a credit to her store). Now of course I knew about many of the features already, but knowing and playing with it live it 2 dfferent things. Click for our new feelings on the HTC G1!
First we must say, that this phone looks much better than we thought in person. We would personally vouch for the Black one. The Bronze is nice, but the black looks the best. We spent several minute playing with it and the interface was cool, on this model at least nothing seems to lag when switching to different areas, and clicking and selecting it was fairly easy. We checked out G Style Magazine on the G1's browser and it look fairly good. If you have been reading that it comes second to the iPhone, we would have to agree.
Now while we won't say this thing is the definition of G Style, we do stand corrected in thinking this phone was leaning on the ugly side, and that little banana hump at the bump really isn't that bad in person. If we was buying one today, we could live with it. Overall this is a cool phone, it isn't the most stylish, but it isn't the ugly duck either, but for maximum style points, we say get the Black model!
Today we also notice that the Blackberry Pearl Flip was in stores as well. We must of forgot this with all the waiting on the Bold and the Storm. We must say though, this isn't as cool a phone in person. When closed, it looks ok, but when open it is awkward. We knew this though, but seeing it in person and feeling how the keyboard feels, we're just not feeling it. Unless you want a Blackberry and just love the flip phone style, this isn't the Blackberry we would suggest. We'd wait for the upcoming Javelin.
