eVeek Launches Elecite

By VerSe On September 4th, 2008

eVeek one of the reigning champs of Blackberry theme creation (Some of their themes are still my all time favorites and still remain on my Blackberry, just in case I want to switch up) have just launched their commercial theme site. Known as Elecite, this site so far houses 9 new themes created by them. And we must say they look niceee! Current favs from the group upon first glance include Lucid, Blingin, and Distinct. They are all good, however these 3 instantly stood out.

So far all of their themes are sporting a $6.99 price tag and are geared towards Blackberry OS 4.5 users. So if you haven’t upgraded yet, you need to hop on that Beta Bandwagon and get it popping. Either that or if you are on AT&T, wait as it is slated to drop the 4.5 OS sometime this month. Check out Elecite and their themes at www.elecite.com, and when your not doing anything have a hop over to www.eveek.com as they have a great community over there.

ColorWare Does the Bold, but We have Mixed Feelings

By VerSe On September 2nd, 2008

We are big fans of ColorWare. They take a plain device and give it more flare, more style. It seems that they are now offering their service for the Blackberry Bold as well. We here though, have some mixed feelings about it. Because of the Blackberry Bold’s design, it doesn’t look good or dare I say ugly depending on the colors picked. For the image above, the Bold doesn’t look too bad in Black & White. However other colors don’t show it in such good light. We would have to suggest leaving the Bold as is (it does look quite good as is anyway), but if you want to add a splash of color, thread carefully!

College Kids Want Simple Phones

By NICK On September 1st, 2008

College kids want simple phones, that was according to a study conducted at University of New Hampshire. Some prefer a simple phone versus smart device such as a Blackberry or an Iphone. When asked what were the top three features students that they used a phone for, 91 percent said talking, 87 for texting, and 85 said for an alarm clock so they can make it to work or their next class in the morning.

Also the study found that first year student are likely to use there new cell phone as a calculator and a camera on a regular basis, Engineering students were less likely to use voice to text capabilities of a phone while Business majors are quite the opposite, making an interest in using such a technology to either call contacts, write down memos without having to write, and navigate through mobile programs with ease.

**Publisher’s Note** I find this hard to believe when it seems everyone and their momma is trying to get their hands on a IPhone still, but hey with stat backing it up, I have a 92% chance of being wrong 75% of the time. lol

HTC’s S740, comes up Short in the Style Dept.

By VerSe On August 26th, 2008

Ok let’s first start off by saying that this phone is feature packed. It has EDGE, it has HSDPA, a 2.4′ screen, 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and WiFi. We will even get it points for the Glossy Piano Black case, a nice touch.

Having said that, we must say, this thing come up short in the style department. We would hope that HTC didn’t hit it’s peak when it comes to style after the release of the HTC Touch. So far after that it’s Touch line has revert to this ugly square/rectangle shapes that just aren’t cool. I mean come on, these things are so squared I could probably cut my fingers on the sharp edges. Would it have hurt to at most curve out those edges. I’m sorry but the box shape isn’t what is hot currently. We want curves, we want slim smooth shapes that dare not follow the cookie cutter rectangle shapes or yesterday. Now I’m not saying that all new phone have to specifically be curved all the time, but this just won’t fly. I’m sorry this phone my friends does not have G Style!
