If you’re new to the smart-home game, you probably think that converting your home is a daunting and complicated process. That’s actually not the case at all especially with something like Elgato’s new Eve Energy HomeKit-enabled smart plug. Eve Energy is the first HomeKit-enabled switch based Bluetooth Smart technology meaning its more energy efficient and more reliable than your WiFi network. Eve Energy is simple to setup and only requires the use of the Elgato Eve app for setup. All other functions later are controlled via HomeKit and Siri voice commands.

“Eve Energy was carefully designed to make your home smarter, not more complicated,” says Markus Fest, CEO of Elgato. “It is ready to use out of the box in seconds and consumes virtually no energy itself. Eve Energy is the most elegant way to control and monitor your electrical devices.”

Eve Energy is now available from Amazon.com and Elgato.com for $49.95. The Eve app is available as a free download from the App Store.

Eve requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9.1 or later. HomeKit requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8.1 or later. Controlling HomeKit-enabled accessories away from home requires an Apple TV (3rd generation or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later and an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8.1 or later. Note: iPad 2 is not supported.
