With all the buzz about ultrabooks; Dell is not staying behind.  At the 2012 CES  Dell introduced the XPS 13.  Their approach is being both consumer and enterprise friendly. Consumers not being forced to choose between the beauty and performance of the ultrabook and companies not sacrificing security and safety.

Made of aluminium, carbon fiber, and gorilla glass display, the XPS 13 weighs less than 3 pounds. (Dell XPS 13 is the only ultrabook to have carbon fiber; which helps keep it cool).  It also has a backlit keyboard and glass touchpad.

Similar in specs to the other ultrabooks that were introduced this year, Dell is trying to become the more favorable choice with features that IT departments would love and offering a few extras.  Being more “enterprise friendly” by installing Configuration Services such as BIOS settings, and asset tagging.

If the standard 128 GB or even 256 GB solid state drive is not enough for you, Dell is offering an additional 100 GB of cloud space through Dell DataSafe for content backup and sharing (at no extra cost).  The XPS 13 also comes with a 12-month Skype Premium subscription.

Of course it boots and starts quickly with Intel Rapid Start.  It also keeps information updated with Intel Smart Connect (Exclusive to the Dell XPS 13). Dell is including one year of accidental damage services (which covers against drops, spills, and other accidents), and one year of theft protection with Computrace LoJack for Laptops Theft Recovery Service (which helps track, locate,  lockdown and recover stolen system, and even remotely delete sensitive information)  as a standard.

This laptop is for those who will largely rely on Wi-Fi since their is no ethernet port.  It’s not good for those who use the internet in hotels.   The extras such as Skype premium and accident protection are definitely a plus! The starting price is $999 and it will be available in March 2013.  You can get more information here.
