If you are a fan of the Max Payne series, you’ll be happy to know that Rockstar Games has been working on their 3rd installment Max Payne 3, I know a lot of us though this day would never come seeing that a number of years have elapsed since the end of Max Payne 2 but thanks to a recent Rockstar demo at New York City Comic Con I was allowed to get a sneak peak on Max Payne’s new journey.

The game starts off where the 2nd installment left off, our former detective is off the force, he has shaved his head and is now an alcoholic. Max Payne 3 is set in Sao Paulo, Brazil, now when the demo was being showed I notice a lot of people were not too happy, it’s bright and sunny down there, defini not the normal Max Payne setting that we are used to, don’t worry the story doesn’t start there. The story starts off in a nasty, dirty apartment in New Jersey apartment. One of his old friend shows up to Max’s dirty unkempt apartment for a drink and offered Max a bodyguard job in Brazil, but before Max could respond, a mob boss shows up blaming Max for his son’s death. Here comes the shootout.

As I was watching one of the reps from Rockstar play the game, you know have a three slot weapon wheel, which allows you mix and match weapons, Max’s health is a silhouette that is on the bottom left screen that fills in when damage is taken in, the number on the silhouette represents the painkillers you have. I got to see Bullet time which is the ability to slowdown time, leap through the air and shoot your enemies.

Rockstar’s is using Natural Motion so that when Max Payne is climbing a gate or walking his moves look very realistic. The game will be in HD which makes graphics look amazing. What I loved most was when I got to see that you can change the speed of the bullet in last kill. What’s new to the game is the cut scenes but these are not your regular static images this time, they are moving these are Max’s thoughts this gives us an insight to his motivates.

Max Payne 3 is still in the early stages, but with the demo I saw today I’m truly impressed. The game play looks amazing. I will keep you guys update when more information is given, but I will say this, this is one game I will be putting on reserve.
