It’s an understatement to say that we really love personalizing our mobile devices. Almost everyone out there tries to put their own personal touches on their devices whether it be a fancy new case, cell phone charm, or even a cool little sticker. In fact, personalization is one of the criteria I have now when I go looking for a mobile phone. I want to make sure that there are tons of accessories and cases available for it otherwise it doesn’t even show up as a blip on my radar. I’m the type who likes to refresh my devices every so often with a new case and as an iPhone 4 owner, I can surely say that there are no shortage of options for it. One of those options is the id America Cushi for the iPhone 4, a soft foam pad that you can apply to the rear.

To start things off, the Cushi is not a case. It is just a rear appliqué that is meant to decorate and to some extent, protect the rear glass portion of your iPhone 4. Unlike a vinyl sticker or a clear rear glass protector, the Cushi is made from EVA foam material that is soft and semi-thick. It protects from scratches and will even give a bit of cushioning if the device is dropped on its rear. The Cushi is meant to only cover the rear portion of the iPhone 4 and is compatible with Apple’s own Bumper case. It however will not allow for use of other cases as the Cushi does add a bit of thickness to the rear.

The Cushi isn’t just a foam pad with a design printed on it. It has texture to it and depending on the design, it gives the image on it a 3D like look to it. id America actually makes sever different themed Cushi’s that you can choose from such as the Original, the Robotics line, the Stripes line, and the Dots line.  Each is sold for $11.99 on their site and comes with a few bonus items. Not only does that price bring you the Cushi itself, it also includes a several small round pieces of varies designs for the Home button that are made of the same material. The kit even includes a front screen protector and cleaning cloth. That’s not bad for $11.99.

If you’re the type who likes to keep their iPhone 4 bare due to the fact that you don’t want to cover up the look of it with a full body case, I at least recommend that you get some kind of front an rear protector for the glass, whether it be some clear protectors or something like the Cushi. The Cushi is a colorful alternative that does offer a bit more protection than your standard clear protector. Also, with so many different Cushi designs to choose from, I’m sure you’ll find one that will suit your tastes.

The Cushi is available from id America’s site for $19.99 here. You’ll be able to choose from their four available themes and each one comes in a variety of different designs and colors.
