Hello students, now that you’ve become familiar with your teachers and your classes, don’t you think it’s time to start having fun? School can be very boring, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s why I’ve made a list of 5 high school and 5 college movies that will show you what your school experience could be like. Now I’m not condoning these types of behavior, but I do encourage you to have fun while in school. Trust me you’ll miss it when it’s all done. I will start with 5 high school movies that will surely have you laughing when you should be studying. They aren’t in any particular order, they’re just all very funny and that’s what you need when you’re worried about if you passed that English test or not.

The first movie is about the types of social groups you might encounter in school. Clueless – 1995: Is a movie that focuses on the pretty girls click in school. It stars Alicia Silverstone as Cher, the leader of the prettiest and most popular girls in school. In the movie she learns that you can not always judge a person by the friends they hang with. This movie is very funny and it made Alicia an overnight sensation.

The next movie is for kids who worked all through summer and now find themselves back in school. Fast Times at Ridge Mont High – 1982: This movie takes place in California in 1982, but a lot of the themes are still recognizable today. This movie explores sex, drugs, and rock & roll all while still showing the workings of a high school. It’s a great coming of age flick. A lot of actors got their big break in this movie, Sean Penn, Judge Reinhold, Phoebe Cates, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and a cameo by future Academy Award winner Forrest Whittaker.

The next movie is for the truants in high school. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – 1986: In this movie Matthew Broderick shows you how to cut school without getting caught. Now I’m sure most of us won’t be riding around in a red Ferrari while ditching school or going to baseball games or singing in parades, but this movie is a great look at what you could do while not is school, if you planned it in advance.

Next is for the kids who think they are the only virgins in high school. American Pie – 1999: This movie revolves around Jason Biggs’s character and his friends who make a pact to lose they’re virginity before prom night. This movie opened the door for more outrageously funny teenage movies to follow.

Last but not least are the nerds. Every since “Revenge of the Nerds”, unaccepted kids have been waiting for another movie about school that focused on them and not the jocks and pretty people of school. That movie came with Napoleon Dynamite – 2004: This movie revolves around Jon Heder’s character who is an alienated kid who helps one of his only friends run for President of they’re small western school, while still having to deal with his insane family at home. This movie was a sleeper hit, that become an over night success when it came out on DVD. Those are my picks for 5 must see high school movies.

Now let’s graduate and go to college. The first one is a college favorite that hasn’t aged with time. Animal House – 1978: This is the grandfather of all college movies. This movie set in 1962 shows how college is always rumored to be, beer drinking, girl chasing, drug using fun while still having time for an occassional toga party. John Belushi starred in this movie, and it was his best performance in his short life span. It tells the story of a frat house named Delta that get into so many situations on campus that they are put on “double secret probation”. Since this movie’s release there have been several other college movies that have tried to have the success Animal House had, but none have come close. This is the ultimate college movie comedy.

The next movie is Old School – 2003: This movie starred Will Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Luke Wilson as 30 something year old guys who start they’re own fraternity. They accept every outcast possible as students in this very funny comedy. This may be the one movie that came close to getting that “out of control” fraternity laughs that Animal House got.

Next on the list is Back to School – 1986: This comedy stars one of the great of comedy, Rodney Dangerfield. In it he plays self – made millionaire Thornton Melon who decides to enroll in college when his son feels he doesn’t have to go, to be a success in life like his father who never went to college. This is one of Rodney’s funniest movies. Anytime he plays a rich guy with no class, it’s hilarious. Money is no object to Melon as he tries to basically pay his way through the semester.

Next is Road Trip – 2000: This is a comedy about a guy who thinks that his girlfriend is cheating on him, so he video tapes a message for her. He then hooks up with another girl and video tapes it, and of course the wrong tape is sent to his girlfriend. So he and his friends go on a cross country road trip to try and get there before the tape reaches her. This movie has some very funny scenes as everything bad that can happen on the way, does.

Last on the list is Accepted – 2006: This movie stars Justin Long as Bartleby Gaines, a kid who gets rejected from every college he applied to. To fool his parents into thinking he’s in college, he uses they money for tuition that they give him and buys a old abandoned hospital and fixes it up to look like a college campus. He ends up getting other students who have also been rejected to attend the school named South Harmon Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T.) when it is put on the internet. This movie wasn’t a big hit at the theaters, but it has made ground on DVD. It’s pretty funny and worth the rental price.
